Thoughtless

The sky keeps threatening rain
And I scream back
“Well fuck you too, old friend!
I never asked for nice hair or
Suede shoes – only for cars
And plastic carrier bags and
A spot of sun.”
But there is no curse or yell I can imagine
Worse than the threat
Of hailstones in August.
